Leveraging News and LinkedIn for Effective Outreach 🤝

These are widely used triggers by salespeople, but I think you're misusing them. Below I'll show you how I think we should use them.

Hey there!

Today I wanted to touch base on a topic that's a common rule in the sales world, but in my opinion, can be used much more effectively - personalizing emails using company news and people's LinkedIn posts.

The Common Approach (That Often Fails)

How people usually use this: They force any news/post to look like a trigger so they have an excuse to reach out to prospects. The result? A non-relevant message heading straight to the spam folder.

Seriously, prospects can spot these forced connections from a mile away!

The Smarter Approach

How we use these triggers at Mint Prospects and Vibe Sales:

  • Find news and LinkedIn posts at scale

  • Have an AI agent qualify if they're truly relevant to our solution (a genuine trigger)

  • Only then consider adding the news/post as part of our email

Important point: I rarely make the news/post the main part of the email. Instead, I use it as a complement to a stronger trigger. Why? Because this technique is so widely used that prospects have developed a sixth sense for detecting inauthentic outreach.

Only when the news is a genuinely perfect trigger should it take center stage in your message.
